Royal Red Maple in Bloom

This tree sits in our front yard and the foliage will soon be full and beautiful. This is how it looks today, as it begins to bloom.

Morning Here

I was listening to my favorite radio station while getting ready for work this morning. The D.J.s were talking about the beautiful star still visible in the eastern sky. They said it was Venus. I grabbed my camera and walked out the front door in the 38 degree morning air and my bare feet. I couldn’t capture Venus… but I did get the sunrise. 

Lake Superior

We spent a night in Duluth this weekend, in a hotel that boasted a water park for its visitors. The hotel itself was nothing to write home about. The walls seemed paper thin, and our room was located right outside the main entrance to the water park. Upon arrival, it became clear that we couldn’t expect to achieve quiet in our room. All that was forgotten, however, when we opened the door to the balcony and discovered an amazing view of Lake Superior. This ship was leaving port on Saturday evening.

Sunday morning greeted us with snow. No worries. It was gone by the end of the day.
